This may be a really short post - with my left hand feeling as it does (see Tracy's previous post about the ER). First, we almost lost the bumper and all the bikes due to flimsy factory construction. Next - a flat tire. Finally my little run-in with the awning mechanism. The blessing in all of them is that no permanent damage has been done, and we're really not off track. We decided to change course for tonight and tomorrow, and take a more southerly route up toward Yellowstone. The originally planned routes on US 14A or US 14 are just too scary for me in terms of long downhills, and tonight we learned that one of the high passes on US 14 had 3.5 inches of snow down this afternoon. As the GPS says.... recalculating route!
Yesterday was a trip. Last week, I had been talking to an old friend from Constructware, Gray Childs, for the first time in the past few years. We got to talking about my trip, and he mentioned that he was also planning to be in the Custer area soon - we figured out we had pre-existing plans to be at Mt. Rushmore on the same day! Too cool - it was great to catch up, however briefly, with an old friend.
