Yesterday was a cleaning day...yes, even when you're camping the inevitable chores of home follow you along. We stopped in Bend, OR to give the truck and camper a bath - there were two weeks of bugs splatted on the front of both (yuck). Once we arrived at camp, our site turned into a mobile cleaning frenzy. Sheets were stripped, towels were gathered, and five loads of laundry were started at the campground laundromat. While going back and forth to change the laundry, we managed to give the inside of the camper a full scrub-down. Abby cleaned the inside of the bathroom so thoroughly that it still smelled like Fantastik hours later...
The weather was gorgeous and we were able to kick back and relax around the campfire to enjoy a wonderful evening together on the shores of Diamond Lake. The kids had gathered sticks and twigs to help get the fire going as a Father's Day "surprise" for Matt while he was away from the campsite and then sang "Happy Father's Day" to him upon his return - priceless. Both kids enjoyed a snuggle with Daddy at the fire before heading to bed. Matt and I tried to stay out and enjoy the fire for a bit longer, but the cold drove us inside before it was even quite dark. Maybe tonight we'll be able to stay out a bit later to see some stars if the sky clears.
Today, it's off to explore and hike...
