Our last long day of driving until beginning to head toward
home in the last week of our trip… We
made it from Boise, ID to Troutdale, OR, just outside of Portland by
mid-afternoon. Along the way, we somehow
lost a rivet in our stair assembly, causing the stairs leading into the trailer
to be unstable on one side. So Matt used
the early arrival time to pay a visit to Camping World, and ultimately, Home
Depot to get a replacement part. While
he was there, he also got a new faucet to replace the one in our kitchen that
has been leaking as we bounce down the road.
We have yet to test it, but I am hopeful that it will prevent having to
clean up the water leakage all over the kitchen counter each time we stop.
We enjoyed a dinner of gourmet burgers – complete with
bacon, guacamole, and sautéed mushrooms along with grilled Brussels sprouts
before heading down to the Sandy River, just steps from our campsite. It was a bit chilly out, but the kids were
determined to get wet. So, as I donned
my fleece outer layer, they put on their swimsuits to “swim” in the river. I enjoyed capturing their crazy faces as they
dipped lower and lower into the water and began to go numb. As we exited the river and headed back to the
campsite, we chatted with some other campers who couldn’t believe the kids had
actually gone swimming in the frigid river water. They were sure we must be
from Michigan…
