Just Stopping Through

Driving, driving, driving...  There's not much to post about yesterday's events.  We're getting to that portion of the trip where we simply have to make time and forward progress back toward Georgia.  We were planning to drive all the way from Durango, CO to Carlsbad, NM yesterday - but that's almost 500 miles on mostly non-interstate roads.  So...we stopped in Albuquerque.

We arrived to the heat wave currently in progress and a low voltage reading on our electric connection.  Everywhere seems to be having difficulty keeping up - especially in the heat of the afternoon.  Matt took the advice of the electricians camped across from us and cleaned out the A/C just to make sure it was working as efficiently as possible.  So he climbed up on the roof and found several dirt dauber nests clogging up the works, cleaned them out, and wet down the roof to cool things off a bit.

Not long afterwards, we made a quick trip to the store for a few supplies and got caught in a thunderstorm that helped things along even further.  By the time we returned, it was dark and much cooler - both inside and outside the camper.  What ever happened to our perfectly breezy 75 degree weather at the Grand Canyon?  Oh well - I guess we have to face the Georgia heat sooner or later.  We might as well start re-adjusting now...

Where did you camp in Albuquerque? Sorry I missed you, we could have met for dinner... Happy travels and may the wind always be at your back.
