Dinner with Friends

Last night we met an old friend of mine, Lee Frazer - and his family and their friend Bart - for dinnner at Steamworks in Durango (I can recommend the Anasazi Enchiladas).  Lee and I have known each other all our lives, as our parents were dental school friends (and still hang out as well - decades-long friendships like that are pretty unique).  It was great to catch up with Lee, who I have not seen in person since we had some brief overlap time at Texas A&M, and especially nice to finally meet his wife Tara and his two beautiful little girls.

It's amazing to see how much we have in common after growing up camping together:  Lee is a professor in the Exercise Science department at Fort Lewis College in Durango, focusing on outdoor education, and he and Tara spend a lot of their off hours hiking, climbing, and in other outdoor endeavors.  Tracy and I spend as much time as possible camping, hiking, and as the kids get older, we'll return to backpacking.  I hope we will both be able to pass forward the love of the outdoors to our own families, so they can continue to enjoy and be stewards of this earth we're entrusted with.

Matt
